When the systems go dark, the whole airport goes sideways
Hundreds of thousands of travelers across the United States and Canada faced cascading disruption after a widespread technology failure triggered thousands of cancellations and delays at major carriers. Dispatch, check-in, and crew-management systems all went offline — and major airlines including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and Air Canada were forced to halt or sharply curtail operations. American and United began to stabilize within roughly a day. Delta did not. More than 7,000 cancellations over several days left an estimated 1.3 million passengers stranded and waiting.
Gobble's Take: One bad software update, and the world's busiest airports became the world's largest waiting rooms.

American is upgrading the lounge food — just in time for your delay
American Airlines is overhauling dining across its Flagship and Admirals Club lounges, and the changes are genuine. Flagship lounges get expanded à la carte choices, new action stations including a cheese-monger cart, and QR code-enabled seat ordering now rolled out systemwide. Admirals Clubs get more variety, two additional hot items, and an upgraded charcuterie spread. Premium wines get a lift in both.
Gobble's Take: Better charcuterie is nice. It's nicer still when your flight actually departs.
