24 trials and 743 patients put yoga on sturdier ground than most wellness buzz.
Yoga, tai chi, and the evidence gap
Among complementary approaches, mind-body movement has the strongest research support. A review of 21 and 22 randomized trials found tai chi improved balance and reduced fall risk in older adults, with gains in walking speed and reduced fear of falling, while an 11-trial review found benefit for knee osteoarthritis. For yoga, an 8-trial meta-analysis in 743 patients found a medium-to-large effect on chronic low back pain and disability, and the benefit was sustained at 12 to 24 weeks. The catch: yoga was not clearly superior to conventional exercise for back pain.
Gobble's Take: When the evidence shows movement helping, the least mystical part of wellness suddenly looks like the smartest one.

Egypt moves to shut down a naturopath’s platform
Egypt banned Australian naturopath O’Neill from television, radio, digital platforms, and the broadcast or circulation of videos featuring her. The decision also blocks promotion in Egypt of any health-related event, service, or training course involving her. The council said the claims attributed to O’Neill posed a threat to public health, after complaints and notifications from the Ministry of Health and Population and the Egyptian Medical Syndicate. The syndicate said she promoted natural remedies and scientifically discredited medical claims, including that cancer is a form of fungus that can be treated with sodium bicarbonate or dietary changes.
Gobble's Take: This is what happens when “natural” stops being a vibe and starts becoming a public-health problem.
