DJI just launched a vlogging powerhouse that shoots 4K slow-motion at 240 frames per second, and you almost certainly can't buy it in the United States.
The Best Vlogging Camera You Can't Buy
DJI just dropped the Osmo Pocket 4, and its spec sheet reads like a creator's fever dream. The pocket-sized gimbal camera packs a 1-inch CMOS sensor that shoots stunning 4K video at up to 240fps for buttery slow-motion, boasts 14 stops of dynamic range with 10-bit D-Log color for maximum post-production flexibility, and comes with 107GB of built-in storage plus fast charging that hits 80% in just 18 minutes.
There's just one problem: American creators are locked out completely. The Osmo Pocket 4 is the first major casualty of DJI's placement on the FCC's "Covered List"—a regulatory blacklist that's created an invisible wall around new DJI products. While cameras approved before the listing can still be sold, the Pocket 4 sits in regulatory limbo with no clear path to U.S. shelves.
For creators who've been waiting to upgrade from the already-excellent Pocket 3, it's a maddening tease. You can watch every international review, drool over the specs, and even browse DJI's product page—but you can't add it to your cart. The technology exists, the demand is real, but geopolitics just gave your gear wishlist a government-imposed ceiling.
Gobble's Take: Your gear budget is safe from DJI for now, but your creative potential just got a government-mandated ceiling.
